Orchard View members ratify first contract

An historic first was recently achieved by staff of the Orchard View Long-Term Care facility as they ratified their first collective bargaining agreement.
The Orchard View members are represented by the New Brunswick Union (NBU).
The staff voted overwhelmingly in favour of the first contract with 89 per cent of members agreeing to the new deal.
“The members of the bargaining team worked very hard on behalf of their colleagues,” said NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle. “We’re very happy to get this first contract completed.”
The contract, which is for two years, will come into effect upon signing. The NBU is working with the employer to get the deal signed as soon as possible.
The Orchard View group joined the NBU in 2016. The professionals in this group work at the long-term care facility in Gagetown to ensure its residents the best care possible in a safe and welcoming environment.
