Message from NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle re: COVID-19

As our province deals with the global pandemic of COVID-19, it becomes clear with each passing day that we are in unprecedented territory.
In order for our province to get through this, we need to continue to listen to our healthcare experts and work together.
As it stands, some of you are continuing to report to work, some are working from home and others are at home waiting further instructions. Everyone is continuing to be paid.
As the situation with COVID-19 continues, our healthcare system and its viability is of the utmost importance. Our members working in this sector are on the front lines of this pandemic and we cannot thank them enough for their work and professionalism in the face of this global crisis.
As I said, this is an unprecedented situation, one that requires us all to step up and help one another. With this in mind, our union has signed a mobility agreement with the provincial government. This will allow government to redeploy members of the public service as needed to help in this crisis.
Some people may be asked to help in another area of government for a period of time as we work our way through this situation. Individual needs such as childcare will be taken into consideration.
We need to help one another as much as possible, in a safe a manner as possible until this issue is resolved. Our union office is closed to the public, but we are still working. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 1-800-442-4420 or contact your Labour Relations Officer (LRO) directly by email.

Sincerely,

Susie Proulx-Daigle, President of the NBU
