NBU and NUPGE make donation to Ability NB

The New Brunswick Union (NBU) and the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) recently made a joint $10,000 donation to Ability NB.
The process was started when NUPGE offered all of its components, of which the NBU is one, $0.50 per member to give to a charity of its choice as for pandemic relief efforts.
The NBU board of directors voted to match the amount donated by NUPGE and round the figure up to $10,000. The board also chose Ability NB as the recipient.
The mission of Ability NB is to empower the independence and full community participation of persons throughout New Brunswick who have a mobility disability.
“There are so many great organizations helping New Brunswickers across this province,” said NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle. “It was a difficult decision to choose a recipient, but we know these funds will have a tremendous impact with Ability NB. We’re really happy we can help during this difficult time.”
“This donation comes at a crucial time when demand for our services is high,” said Ability NB Executive Director Haley Flaro. “The NBU and NUPGE are working with us to make sure New Brunswickers with a mobility disability have the supports and tools they need to live safely and independently through the pandemic.”
