The New Brunswick Union (NBU) recently made its yearly donation of $12,000 to KidSport New Brunswick on behalf of its members.
The not-for-profit organization provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. KidSport NB was chosen as the NBU’s charity of choice for a period of three years.
The recent donation was the second of three.
“We know the benefits of kids participating in sports are tremendous,” said NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle. “From promoting healthy lifestyles to developing friendships to life lessons learned about the importance of cooperation and teamwork, and so much more.”
Through the 2021 donation, KidSport NB estimates about 60 children from about 30 to 35 families across the province will receive registration grants of $200 per child to participate in sports.
“For 2020, we were able to support more than 200 children by providing more than $30K in grants throughout the province,” said Jesse Falanga, communications and program coordinator for KidSport NB.
“We fund more than 100 different sports with hockey and cheer being some of the most popular,” he said.
